Donald Sumpter is an English actor who portrayed the character Maester Luwin in the HBO series Game of Thrones. He began his career in the mid-1960s and gained early recognition for his role as Donald Neilson in the 1977 film The Black Panther. Sumpter has made notable appearances in several adaptations of Charles Dickens' works, including Great Expectations (1999) and Bleak House (1985). His film credits also feature The Constant Gardener (2005) and K-19: The Widowmaker (2002). In television, he has appeared in Doctor Who, Midsomer Murders, and Our Friends in the North. He played a significant role in the Agatha Christie's Poirot episode, The ABC Murders (1992).
