Colin Welland is an English actor and writer who won the Academy Award for Best Screenplay for Chariots of Fire (1981). His acting debut came in the film Kes (1969), where he portrayed the character Mr. Farthing, earning a BAFTA for his performance. Welland gained widespread recognition for his role as PC Graham in the BBC series Z Cars. His filmography includes notable works such as Straw Dogs (1971), Blue Remembered Hills (1979), and War of the Buttons (1994). In addition to acting, he wrote several plays and films, including the BAFTA-winning Kisses at Fifty.
