Claude Brasseur was a French actor who appeared in over 150 film and television productions throughout his career. He gained prominence with his role as Arthur in Jean-Luc Godard's Bande à part (1964) and starred in the popular comedies La Boum (1980) and La Boum 2 (1982), where he portrayed the father of Sophie Marceau's character. Brasseur also played the title role in the historical crime television series The New Adventures of Vidocq in the early 1970s. His filmography includes The Party (1980). Brasseur was a member of the French bobsleigh team during the 1960s and a competitor in the Paris-Dakar rally.
