Bobby Gillespie is a Scottish musician and singer-songwriter who starred in the film 9 Songs (2004). He is best known as the lead singer and founding member of the alternative rock band Primal Scream, where he serves as the primary lyricist. Gillespie was previously the drummer for The Jesus and Mary Chain during the mid-1980s and played bass for The Wake. In 2021, he released his memoir titled Tenement Kid.
