Barbara Hershey is an American actress who won an Emmy and a Golden Globe for her performance in A Killing in a Small Town (1990). She began her acting career at 17 in 1965 and gained significant recognition in the late 1980s, with the Chicago Tribune praising her as "one of America's finest actresses." Hershey received critical acclaim for her roles in The Last Temptation of Christ (1988) and The Portrait of a Lady (1996), the latter earning her an Academy Award nomination. She also starred in notable films such as Hannah and Her Sisters (1986), Beaches (1988), and Black Swan (2010). Hershey appeared in the horror films Insidious (2011) and Insidious: Chapter 2 (2013).
