Austin Pendleton is an American actor, playwright, theatre director, and instructor whose career spans over six decades. He has appeared in notable films such as Catch-22 (1970), What's Up, Doc? (1972), and The Muppet Movie (1979). Pendleton received a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination for his role in A Beautiful Mind (2001) and lent his voice to a character in Finding Nemo (2003). His theatrical accomplishments include a Tony Award nomination for Best Direction of a Play for the 1981 revival of The Little Foxes and an Obie Award for Best Director for the 2011 revival of Three Sisters. Pendleton's recent work on Broadway includes Choir Boy (2016) and The Minutes (2022).
