Aparna Sen is an Indian filmmaker, screenwriter, and actress who made her debut in Teen Kanya (1961). A prominent figure in Bengali cinema, she gained recognition with her role in Aparichito (1969) and established herself as a leading actress through films such as Aranyer Din Ratri (1970), Titli (2002), and Antaheen (2009). Sen has received numerous accolades, including eight BFJA Awards and three National Film Awards for her work in direction, as well as the Padma Shri, awarded by the Government of India. Her notable directorial works include 36 Chowringhee Lane, Mr. and Mrs. Iyer, and The Japanese Wife.
